New Partner arrives at the Firm.
In July 2009, the Firm admitted William Kasozi as a Partner. William holds an LL. B (Hons) degree from Makerere University and an LL. M (European & International Trade Law) degree from the University of Leicester, England.
Before joining the Firm, William amassed over 10 years diversified experience as Legal Advisor in the financial services sector characterized by top management positions in East Africa Development Bank, a development finance institution; Stanbic Bank, a leading commercial banking group in sub-Saharan Africa, and before that in the Central Bank of Uganda.
William brings with him vast experience that will bolster the Firm's financial institutions and project finance practice.
Intensive course in International Commercial Arbitration.
Pursuant to the Firm's commitment to serving its client's needs by training its people, our Associate, Chris J. Luwaga recently undertook an intensive course in International Commercial Arbitration at the International Law Institute-Africa Centre for Legal Excellence from 13th-24th July 2009. The course was conducted by Mr. Richard Branson, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London and Senior Advisor at the International Law Institute, Washington. Mr. Branson is a leader in the law and practice of International Commercial Arbitration and has been a partner at several major international law firms in Washington including White & Case LLP; Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays and Handler LLP; and Wallace, King, Domike and Branson LLP where he handled several international commercial arbitrations at the American Arbitration Association, International Chamber of Commerce, Paris and the London Court of International Arbitration.
Chris shall now apply the wise counsel he gained from Mr. Branson to provide our clients an even better service.
Associate scores placement in an international law firm
On another note, from September to December 2009 our Associate, Aissata Sylla shall be doing a three month placement with the international law firm of Herbert Smith LLP in their London and Paris offices. Aissata is Uganda's candidate under the International Lawyers for Africa programme run by the Law Society of England and Wales.
We are confident Aissata shall gain invaluable exposure in international commercial practice which she will use to continue providing our clients tailor made solutions.
